The Dalmatian Club of America recommends using contracts for the sale of puppies, for entering into a
co-ownership agreement, and for the breeding of bitches and stud dogs. Contracts should be used even between friends. The use of
contracts when selling puppies, co-owning dogs and breeding gives protections to the parties involved and, most importantly, the
dog.
The Dalmatian Club of America sample contracts were developed to be used as a resource for its members when formulating their own
contracts. When creating your own contract it is important to make sure the wording is clear so there is no confusion or
misunderstanding between the parties involved. Included in the sample contracts is basic information about each of the parties, the dog
and requirements for both parties involved. At the end of each sample contract is a list of additional clauses you may want to consider
including in your contract depending on your own personal preferences or circumstances. You may also want to have your own contract
reviewed by an attorney.
